Joh 8:7 - 12  "And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground.  But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."]] Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

A light is shed on an old misinterpretation of God's Law. It was meant to be a means of grace and life. There were always provisions for forgiveness and repentance. The Law was to be a means of reflecting upon ones own guilt before God, not to cover over one's own sin by pointing to the sins of others. The Law was to drive one back to God. To repent of looking to self. To highlight the need for a sacrifice. To be light shining to God's character. He is full of mercy and full of justice. Overflowing with grace and calling to repentance.
Lawlessness and self righteousness are equally two results of unbelief and walking away from the true God!
Jesus came as a light to the pathway of coming back to God as loving Father. He is Absolute Love. The light was never so bright. "Let him without sin cast the first stone."
This is God speaking, following Jesus is walking out of darkness, to having your lifes' lamp fully on fire. Give vision and warmth and purpose and vitality.

The religious leaders were taken off guard, put back on their heels, but they still were seeking a way to make Jesus appear unstable.
They said that Jesus was always bearing witness about Himself but there was no one besides Him that could verify what He claimed. This is amazing that the claim for God to prove who He was and that He really was God would come from religious leaders. (The proof for God's existence s the very creation itself and His care for keeping it and caring for that creation.) So here is Jesus making provisions, healing, forgiving and creating yet they do not recognize Him.
Jesus simply states; "My witness and life are the verification, I was before all creation, I Am going back to the Father, My judgement is from a knowledge of all things. I Am Yahweh. Your judgement is limited in knowledge and understanding, finite and temporal. My judgment is infinite and eternal."

Jesus clearly told them there are more witnesses than myself, The Father, The Spirit and the Scriptures all testify to who I Am. I Am Yahweh.

Joh 8:13 - 18 "So the Pharisees said to him, "You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true. Jesus answered, "Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.  Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.  In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me."

There come back was; "Where is your Father?"
Jesus was in the treasury area of the temple. He blasted the religious leaders. He told them they thought they knew God. They neither had no understanding of God otherwise they would recognize Jesus. Jesus was Yahweh the incarnate God, the only begotten of the Father.
He said all this in the open in front of the religious elite, but no one arrested Him for He remained in control of the timing of the fulfillment of all things. Sovereign Lord, Faithful Servant.

Joh 8:19, 20  "They said to him therefore, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also. These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come."

He told them again, where He was going when He left they could not go. They couldn't understand. "Your place is in this world of rebellion and sin;" Jesus told them. "You can't come to heaven and be with Me and The Father because you don't believe and you would be out of place."

They questioned; "Who Are You?" They couldn't believe that Jesus was talking to them this way. Their pride was raised to being indignant.
Jesus calmly said; "I've already told you who I Am." "I've been saying it from the beginning, I Am the creator of all things."

Joh 8:21- 25  "So he said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.  So the Jews said, "Will he kill himself, since he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come'?  He said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.  So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been telling you from the beginning."

Jesus had a lot more to say and a lot more to declare in judgment upon the keepers of religious power it all came from God The Father through Him.
"When you have lifted Me up on a cross of crucifixion, you will see me as The Son of Man, as foretold by Daniel. You will know I Am Yahweh. My authority is supreme. All my life and sacrificial death is to please The Father and reconcile all of God's children to full acceptance."
As Jesus was saying these things many believed in Him.

Joh 8:26 - 30 "I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him. They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father. So Jesus said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him. As he was saying these things, many believed in him."
