Joh 12:9 -11  "When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus."

When a large crowd of religious followers heard Jesus was there they came to see Jesus and Lazarus. They had heard of His miraculous signs and the raising of Lazarus from the dead. The religious leaders were threatened by Jesus' authority and were afraid all the people would follow after Him. They decided to murder Jesus and Lazarus as well.

Jesus began the trek into Jerusalem. He knew He would be killed there, it was part of His plan. Jesus death was part of the plan of God from the beginning.

1Pe 1:20, 21  "He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God."

He was met as a conquering king. People shouted; "Happy is the ONE coming in the Name of The LORD!" "He is the King of Israel."

He rode in on a donkey to fulfill the prophecy of His coming.

The disciples didn't understand that this was a fulfillment of God's Word until Jesus had risen from the dead.

Joh 12:12 - 16 "The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.  So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt! His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him."

The people who had been following Jesus and had witnessed Him raise Lazarus from the dead continued to spread the word about Jesus; who He was and what He had done.

Joh 12:17  "The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness."

A huge crowd crowd was following Jesus and more and more people were joining in to become His followers. Even some from outside of Israel and Gentiles who had heard of Jesus had come to the Passover festival. They had heard of Jesus and wanted o see Him.

Now the most strict of religious followers complained; "Now you will see that the whole world is following after Him." "You are gaining nothing by waiting to pu Him to death."

Joh 12:18 - 22 "The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.  Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."  Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus."

Jesus knew it was time for Him to complete His mission of coming to earth as a human, He said; The Son of Man must now be glorified." You cannot multiply the seed unless it is buried in the ground." "You can't learn to live to fullest extent of God's will unless you die to your own independent will."  "If you want to serve Me, you have to follow My commands. " "If you want to serve Me you will stay right with Me and in serving Me you will find God My Father will honor you."

Joh 12:23 - 26 "And Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him."

"Jesus told His followers,; "I Am so deeply torn, I don't want to have to endure My Father's wrath, but this is why I came here to earth in the form of a man."

Joh 12:27  "Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour."

Jesus said out loud; "My Father God, glorify your name in the obedience of your Son." A loud thundering noise came out of nowhere and from everywhere; "I have glorified My name and it will be glorified now again in you."

"Some said'Did you hear the sound of that thunder?" Others remarked; "It was a messenger of God talking to Him!"

Joh 12:28 - 29 "Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven: "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again. The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him."

" Jesus said; "Your not imagining this, nor was it thunder." This was God's voice, My Father spoke." "He spoke for your sake, that you might believe."

Joh 12:30  "Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not mine."
