#revelation #endtimes

Absolute Love is a conquering, overcoming love.

The New Testament book of Revelation (literally unveiling) is a fascinating and beautiful picture of Jesus Christ unveiled as the King of kings and Lord of lords in the structure of progressive parallelism. Each individual section progressively shows the triumphant battle and final victory of  "the slain lamb" once dead but now alive, risen and reigning, conquering evil and overcoming all obstacles to final peace and perfection.

Progressive parallelism is detailed in The New International Greek Testament Commentary on Revelation by G. K. Beale and many other commentaries. The sections of Revelation highlighting progessive parallelism are put into songs on a CD by Michael Card called "Unveiled Hope". Progressive parallelism is also a form used in Hebrew literature, especially poetry and prophecy, John would have been very familiar with this literary form growing up in a Jewish home in the first century and being a companion of Jesus.

The form in Revelation is divided into sections roughly around; 1. chapters 1-3, 2. chapters 4-7, 3. chapters 8-11, 4. chapters 12-14, 5. chapters 15-16, 6. chapters 17-19 and 7. chapters 20-22.

The divisions portray a view of the vision of what Christ's victorious reign will accomplish for those who remain faithful. The vision is parallel in each section, but progressive in that each section moves further in to detailing the victory Christ has won. The progression is also from a view of the vision from a focus on earth to a more complete focus on heaven. To put it another way from a limited physical perspective to a more fully developed spiritual perspective.

What's the point for us today?

In Revelation chapters 2 and 3- Jesus says 9 times "I Know" I know you, I know your works, I know where you dwell, I know your tribulation, I know that you have but little power.

Absolute Love knows you have only a tiny perspective on the final victory, so there is a magnificent picture to look at in Revelation of His conquering power on our behalf.

Rev 4:11"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

Rev 5:11-12 "Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"
