Jas 4:1-4  "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions."

Do you want to know why you cannot get along, why there is strife among you? You have desires that cannot be fulfilled without destroying relationships. You don't have something you want, you look around at others and want what they possess.
You don't look to God for mercy and grace in satisfying you and you wouldn't receive what you wanted anyway because you are not motivated by love.
Your motivation is from the world!
Don't you realize that to focus your desires on earthly things is to set yourself against God? You will never find any satisfaction, contentment, peace or love outside of finding it in God. He is the Absolute Love.

Jas 4:4  "You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."

You don't want to go that way, you will be miserable, for if you are given the Spirit of God you will be filled with inner discontent. God is intent on humbling you, your pride will be overcome one way or another. If you want to be filled to all the fullness of God's grace you need to humble yourself and look to only Him as the one who can bring satisfaction. He is All and in All.

1Co 15:27, 28 "For "God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "all things are put in subjection," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all."

Eph 1:16, 23 "I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all."

Jas 4:5,6  "Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"?  But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

In humility if you are submitted to God you will be able to resist temptation. God will always be there, you only need to submit to Him. He will cleanse your heart, and He will lift you up to your proper place. He is the only way to ultimately being raised up to abundant life.

Jas 4:7-10  "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."
